Introducing COLLAGE for Windham!

Eeps - I haven't blogged since October.  Let's just call in a winter hibernation, okay?  And if there's any reason to come out of hibernation, it's this.  Do you know Carrie Bloomston of SUCH Designs?  If you do, you already know why I adore her, and if you don't, you should head over to her blog and get acquainted with her right now.  I had the pleasure of meeting her nearly three years ago at the Long Beach International Quilt Show and have considered her a friend ever since. She’s one of the kindest people I’ve ever met and her enthusiasm for life and creativity drew me in immediately.

Carrie is amazingly artistic.  Her patterns are easy to follow and are so varied in their design from whimsical critters to sophisticated stepping stones. I have always loved her patterns; I made this using her Wonky Little Houses pattern, and it’s maybe one of my favorite quilts.  Needless to say, I love her products, so you can imagine how delighted I was to find that she was creating a line of fabric for Windham – COLLAGE.  It’s a gorgeous collection and very much speaks of Carrie’s aesthetic.  Vibrant shades of purple, red, and yellow.  Birds.  And little scraps of words and phrases that she carefully curated.  It’s a fantastic line and I was honored when she asked if I’d create something with it.

In making a quilt using COLLAGE, I chose Jessica Kelly’s Simply Woven pattern – I love how it the strips of fabric in the quilt pattern mimic the the strips in some of Carrie's prints.

I also used Carrie’s Giggle and Squeak pattern to make a pillow using COLLAGE.  The saturated colors of the fabric and the whimsy of the pattern play so nicely together, don't you think?

And now it’s giveaway time.  You're going to love playing with this line when it's released this summer, but until then, Windham has generously donated a Layer Cake for me to give away.  Leave a comment with a fun fact (or two!) about yourself before I wake up on Thursday and I’ll pick a random winner.  International is fine, just make sure that if you’re a no-reply blogger that you’ve left your e-mail in the comment.

COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED.  I'LL ANNOUNCE A WINNER SHORTLY.

What an awesome give away, thank you so much for the opportunity. It's been almost a year now since I completed my first quilt. It was a crib size Dr Suess patch work quilt and since then I've taken some classes and have prepared several more. I would love to win the fabric to put together another quilt. All the best to all that apply (craftatious@yahoo.ca)

I believe that some of our unfinished projects were not meant to be finished but rather to serve as a stepping stone to better creative expression. We all have those unfinished works! I know and admire Carrie B., and I am so excited to see her fabric! Using her designs might just mean we finish what we start!

Love your pillow! Fun facts??? Hmmm......I married my HS sweetheart. I love to "sing" make up little tunes to call the cats to eat, to ask my husband to do a chore, etc. (It harks back to my kindergarten teaching days when I would sing just about all of our clean up, group meetup, etc commands. LOL (hubby doesn't find it amusing....)

great prize.
Fun fact - I don't like long finger nails and cut mine twice a week as they grow so fast.

Two fun facts:
I love mis-matched everything - cups, clothes, furniture, and kids with messy, crazy hair.

I used to think it would be fun to think of adjectives for a living - you know, to be the person who thinks of descriptive words to match beverages on menus or colours of carpet.

I love Disneyland, am pretty terrified of dogs and can't even pet Wallace without clenching my teeth, I love candy and it physically hurts me when I don't eat it, I've never been to Disney world out to Europe, I love polka dots and I need things to be in straight lines as much as possible, I like sharing my addictions with other people and I secretly love anime, oh: and I didn't realize some people are scared of birds and it makes me feel guilty for not knowing.

What great projects - I love the design of the quilt and the pillow is just adorable! This line is calling my name... my online name, that is. Before quilting, I was into rubber stamping and had tons of alsphbet stampps. So... I picked the online name "AlphaBecky" way back in the 90s and it has been with me ever since. Thanks for the chance to win!!

Your fabrics are marvelous! I love to use fabrics with words in my quilts. And I like to design by playing with color-aid papers, cutting and pasting, or sticking fabric scraps on a felted board. Can't wait to try the Collage line!

Fun fact about myself? Hmmmm.... that is hard, I swear I can't think of anything interesting, but I do have a funny story. One time my SIL accidentally ate a really spoiled watermelon and she said it tasted fizzy like sprite mixed with mayonnaise. YUCK!

I would INDEED love to play with a stack of these beauties!

Fun fact? I've broken my nose three times ... none during any real physical activity. The first time while reading a book on a park bench. Boys trying to impress me with the speed of their ball throwing screamed, "Heads up!" just in time for me to look up and take a fast ball in the face. The second time was when reaching up to get a casserole dish and the glass lid slid off and hit me you know where. The third time was while walking to work on an autumn day. My heel hit some wet leaves and I ended up skating along the sidewalk just at the moment I had chosen to put both hands in my coat pockets to look for a tissue. I eventually fell forward (look, Ma, no hands) and planted my face right on the sidewalk. That's it ... my nose three times broken in the most unlikely circumstances.

Now, was that fun OR WHAT?!

I love your quilt! That is one of my favorite patterns. Did you use two jelly rolls?

Fun facts? That's hard. I can do crazy... Our family consists of my husband and I, six kids (I've between the ages of five and ten), 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs and a new dog (she doesn't know what to make of the guinea pigs). It's loud all the time, chaotic and just plain crazy most days.

Hmmm, I can say all fifty states in alphabetical order. :)

I love this fabric! Thanks for the chance to win some!

Fun fact #1 - I geeked out when I met Carrie in Houston 2 years ago because I was so bored with the same old fabrics I was seeing. I took my picture with her, bought every pattern she had, just loved her!

Fun fact #2 - I would stay in my seeing room every Saturday night, listen to Harry Potter, and play with fabric if my husband didnt call me a need and drag me out and about.

I don't get any canning done. I blanche and freeze peas. My husband grows hundreds of acres of canning crops though. I have too many beautiful flower beds to take care of - seriously! I planted hundreds of tulips last fall - couldn't stop myself. BUT, I love new modern style quilting and this new line COLLAGE. Gonna find me some of that, yes I am.
